Who are the members of NewJeans?

NewJeans debuted in July 2022 with five members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein. However, after a drawn-out contract battle, Danielle’s contract with ADOR was terminated on December 29, 2025, and the artist left the group.[3] As a result, as of summer 2026 the group carries on as a four-member lineup — Minji, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein.[4]

Getting to know the members one by one

Minji — the group’s de facto leader

Kim Min-ji (김민지) was born on May 7, 2004 and is the oldest member of the group. At 169 cm she has a commanding stage presence; her MBTI type is ESTJ and her blood type is A.[2] Although NewJeans has no official leader, Minji is most often referred to as the group’s de facto leader and central figure.

Hanni — the Vietnamese-Australian vocalist

Hanni Pham (Vietnamese name Phạm Ngọc Hân) was born on October 6, 2004. Born and raised in Australia to a Vietnamese family, she is one of the group’s international faces. She stands about 162 cm; her MBTI type is INFP and her blood type is O.[2]

Haerin — calm and balanced energy

Kang Hae-rin (강해린) was born on May 15, 2006. She stands 164.5 cm; her MBTI type is INTP and her blood type is B.[2] She is one of the group’s most talked-about members when it comes to visuals.

Hyein — the group’s maknae

Lee Hye-in (이혜인) was born on April 21, 2008 and is the group’s maknae (youngest member). Even so, at 170 cm she is the tallest member of the group. Her MBTI type is ISFP and her blood type is O.[2]

Danielle — the member who left in late 2025

Danielle Marsh (Korean name Mo Ji-hye, 모지혜) is a Korean-Australian artist born on April 11, 2005. She was one of the group’s vocalists from 2022 to 2025; she stands 165 cm and her MBTI type is ENFP.[2] After her contract was terminated, she began releasing solo music independently on April 11, 2026.[3]

Does the group have an official leader and positions?

In an unusual choice for K-pop, NewJeans has not designated an official leader. On a livestream, the members also said the group has no fixed positions (such as main vocal, rapper or dancer); everyone sings and role assignments are flexible.[2] Even so, because she is the oldest member and often guides the group on stage, Minji is generally considered the de facto leader.

Where is NewJeans now? (2026)

After months of legal uncertainty, the picture is finally clear. The group’s four members — Minji, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein — are continuing under the ADOR umbrella. On July 22, 2026, on the group’s 4th debut anniversary, ADOR announced the four-member return with films and photos titled “2026 Summer of NewJeans”.[4] HYBE’s global communications team confirmed that this was the first official content featuring all four members (Minji, Hanni, Haerin, Hyein) together after a two-year gap.[5]

📌

In short: As of 2026, NewJeans is an active four-member group (Minji, Hanni, Haerin, Hyein). Danielle has left the group; Minji's return has been officially confirmed as well.
